How did you get into
fashion design?
I aspired it and I worked for it, for as long as I can remember, my mother had
a small home operating venture and I think it opened a lot of ways and options
for me.
Where did you go to school? What did you
study?
I did my o/a levels from beacon house
Faisalabad
and I did my bachelors in design form
Beacon
House
National
University.
What inspired you to get into fashion
design?
It’s mostly passion driven.
What skills do you need to be a fashion
designer?
Mostly a good eye for finishing/ details, a flair for experimentation and
color, and you need to know your market.
How would you describe your style of
fashion? My personal style includes traditional and contemporary motifs, and
intricate hand embellishment techniques in a ballad of epic fusion.
What inspires your
designs?
Every collection has its own inspiration and the source varies from movies to
books to almost anything.
Do you specialize in any particular line
of clothing?
Bridal couture is my forte.
In your eyes, what makes a good
collection?
An amalgam of good color, cut, variation and similarity at the same time
Do you think having a strong sense of
sewing skills is important in fashion design?
Yes of course.
What are you working on now?
I’ve just completed my Fall/Winter collection for KFW “love is worth the fall”
and now I’m working on my summer collection.
What kind of colors and cuts in designs
do you see taking centre-stage in the upcoming winter season in
Pakistan?
I like to do things my way!
If you could do anything else, what
would it be?
I’d be a writer
If you had a chance to work with any
designer in the world who would it be and why?
Alexander McQueen. It’s Alexander McQueen I don’t think there’s more reason to
it!!

How do you see the future of Pakistani
Fashion Industry?
It’s grim.
How would you compare Pakistani fashion
scene with international fashion scene? There is no comparison, we’re 100 years behind and fighting wars of Stone
Age, split councils and ego!
What advice do you have for a young
person who wants to be a fashion designer?
Buckle up! It’s a bumpy ride!
